SAFARICOM ETHIOPIA FREE 1GB WHATSAPP PACKAGE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Welcome to Safaricom.

The following Terms and Conditions apply to the Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC (“Safaricom”) free 1GB WhatsApp monthly package (“the Package”). The Package will be available to you upon registration and activation of your SIM Card. By using the Package, it means you have read, understood, and accepted the Terms and Conditions set out herein.

  1. Eligibility
    The Package is available to you provided that you are registering for a new Safaricom SIM Card.
  2. The Package and terms of use
    1. The Package will be available to you when you register for a new SIM Card starting from December 9, 2022, up to December 8, 2023 (the “Validity Period”).
    2. The Package is valid for thirty (30) days and does not roll over beyond thirty (30) days.
    3. For six (6) consecutive months, the Package will be awarded to you every thirty (30) days on the anniversary of your registration and activation of your SIM Card. Safaricom reserves the right to extend or shorten the Validity Period.
    4. You can check your balance through USSD (*777#) and (*704).
    5. You will receive a threshold notification for the resources upon utilization. The notification will be sent to you upon reaching the following demarcations: such demarcations may be amended or changed by Safaricom from time to time without prior notice to you.
      • 1GB WhatsApp resources - 100MB, 50MB,10MB and 0MB.
    6. The Package shall not be transferable.
    7. The Package can only be used to access WhatsApp through the application or the web.
    8. If you have an additional data package, airtime balance for out-of-bundle usage, and the Package, priority will be given to the Package for using WhatsApp.
    9. If you exhaust your Package, you will be charged the prevailing out-of-bundle rates, or normal data package rates if you have an additional data package.
    10. You cannot opt-out or unsubscribe from the recurring service.
    11. You cannot use the Packages when you are roaming. Whilst roaming the use of the standard applications will be charged at the normal Safaricom tariff.
    12. The Package cannot be tethered for use on other devices.
    13. By using the Package, you are subject to the terms and conditions as well as the privacy policy of the application provider.
    14. Safaricom is not liable for any faults, glitches, bugs or technical issues that might occur on the standard application (WhatsApp). Furthermore, Safaricom shall not be held accountable for any damages or loss incurred as a result of your use of the platform or application.
    15. Safaricom is not liable for any third-party content and/or advertisement that might appear while you are using your Package.
    16. Safaricom retains the right to change, amend or stop the availability and/or renewal of the Package at any time without any prior notice to you.
  3. Privacy
    1. Safaricom shall protect and keep your personal information and communication private and shall not disclose it to any unauthorized persons.
    2. Safaricom shall only process your information in accordance with the law.
    3. How Safaricom processes your personal information is detailed fully in the Privacy Policy available on www.safaricom.et.
  4. Extension of Safaricom Terms and Conditions
    1. These Terms and Conditions are supplemental and subject to the published Safaricom Prepay and Postpay General Terms and Conditions and other product specific Terms and Conditions.
    2. All general provisions applicable to prepay and postpay services under the Prepay and Postpay Terms and Conditions and other product specific Terms and Conditions shall apply to these Terms and Conditions.
    3. Safaricom reserves the right to amend or vary these Terms and Conditions or to withdraw the Package at any time. In any of these events, notice will be given via media advertisements including at Safaricom’s discretion on www.safaricom.et and will be effective immediately or as at the date referred in such notifications.
